The "Traveling Hat"
Our "Chapter Tradition"
The hat will be awarded to anyone who does something exceptional--funny, courageous, etc.
with HATTITIDE--- of course!!!
It is starting out as a very plain, unadorned hat. Each person who wins the hat gets to embellish it with ONE thing: a ribbon, a pin, flower, fruit, figurine, ANYTHING that will fit on the hat. The winner wears it to all events or “Hoot” and when she decides on the next winner, she selects that next winner, and passes it on at the next event or “Hoot”!

The Current Recipient is: Sherree Vancil At the May, 2010 Hoot, Ellen Hopkins passed the Traveling Hat to Sherree Vancil. Here is what Ellen said: "Sherree Vancil has done many projects for the Howard community over the years--creating and maintaining the Howard website, the benefit for the Longshaw family, and keeping a great bunch of women together as Red Hats, to name just a few. But what put me over the top was that about a month ago, Sherree saved Howard Hall. Yes, a lot of people helped to contribute time and money, but without Sherree immediately stepping forward and organizing the whole fund-raising effort, it never would have happened. So I am pleased to pass the Traveling Hat in recognition of all her hard work and meticulous attention to detail--she gets the job done and our community is the better for it.
